The AGO: Frida & Diego Exhibit

Yesterday my mom and I went to the Frida & Diego Exhibit at The AGO. Frida Kahlo is my all time favourite artist and when I found out about the exhibit back in August I knew I had to go. I'd been way too busy in October to go, so two weeks later it's November and I finally got to go! As you enter you see two self-portraits; one of Frida and one of Diego. On the right there was a short bio of the two and how they met and a timeline. It was a no picture zone and I wish it was, but I don't think I'll be forgetting this any time soon. Diego Rivera's works were displayed first, then Frida Kahlo's, then both. Diego's pieces were very cultured while Frida's were more personal and depicted a lot of pain at the time of her bus accident. My favourite piece by Diego is of Natasha Gelman. Natasha and Jacques (her husband) were Mexican art collectors. My two favourites by Frida were of Luther Burbank and "Broken Column". But really, the entire exhibit was amazing. If you get the chance GO SEE THE EXHIBIT. Or make time, make an hour or two to see this!

Here are some photos of the figures Shadowland created at the end of the exhibit in honour of Day of the Dead.
